Front End Bushings and Alignment
85 C4 with 72,000 original miles. The tires are wearing uneven in the front and when I out the car up on a lift, I noticed that the bushings appear to be cracking on the surface and did not go further into inspection. I obviously want to get the alignment checked, but wondering if anyone has any suggestions on possible kits that come recommended to replace the factory bushings to enhance performance. Basically, I do not want to get the alignment done and then have get out of whack 500 miles down the road and have to pay for it again since there may be other factors coming into play that need to be checked out, such as the bushings or possibly bearings. Want to try to get the entire front end knocked out all at once. Also I am in Clearwater, Florida and anyone come recommended down here....

I just replaced the upper arms on my 93. I have about twice the mileage and half the age of your Vette. Hard to say if your bushings are shot or not. My car vibrated your teeth out of your head at 80mph. I have started rebuilding the suspension and so far so good. You may want to get a lifetime alignment on your Vette. That way, you can take it in whenever to have an alignment done. When you do replace the bushings, you will need to go to poly bushings. Summit Racing was the cheapest with the Energy Suspension kit. To get the rubber bushings, you have to replace the whole assemblies as they do not sell them alone. hope this helps some. :cheers:

Another option is global west Del-alum bushings. I have used them on other cars and I purchased some for my 90. They are smooth, greasable and have good precision. They also cost more. Very good for track use. I have been driven nuts by poly bushings squeaking in the past. They often need to be fitted too. But they are cheap.
