Default Roll Cage

How does it work with a four point cage?
Something like the S/T Frame support.
Do they come pre assembled and they are installed into the car or do they come in pieces and are assembled in car?
I am more interested in something like a chromemoly four point like Exotic Muscle C6025\
How long do they take to install?
Is there a saftey or structural gain to welding them in?
Thanks in advance

"Most" 4-point bars I've seen are already assembled/welded and are ready to drop in.

You'll need to cut the floor of the cargo area to get to the frame in 4 places. Careful measurements are a must...check it 5 or 6 times before ever laying a saw to the car.

There is a gain in welding them in, not welding the bolt-plate to the frame and bolting the bar in place. You'll never have to worry about the bolts coming loose if it's welded in place. Mine is rock-solid and will lift one tire off the ground when coming over curb-cuts...not much flex at all.

As for welding it in, be REALLY careful when you do it. When we did mine, I forgot about the FX3 shock control wires inside the frame rails. We melted the insulation on one side (lucky I could get enough wire out to splice & solder the thing back together) since the wiring harness was touching the frame.

I used an AutoPower bar for mine as it was the only one that covered SCCA, NCCC, NHRA & IHRA specs for rollbar diameter and thickness of tubing at the time. Since then many others have stepped up, including Exotic Muscle.

You'll love the feel of how tight the car is when it's done.

NHRA requires a 5 point roll bar, the Exotic Muscle 4 point shown in this thread is not NHRA legal.
A roll cage is a minimum of 8 points.

I hae the S/T Support Frame. I really like it. It comes already assembled and ready to drop in. Mine is bolted in right now and really helps stiffen the car. Check out the thread I started when I got for some more pics, etc. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=636509

It probably takes the better part of a day to install. Well worth the time!!

do you have the instructions from that autopower.
I have a used autopower, without the baseplates, or any paperwork.

I would like to get the base plates so I can bolt / weld it in.

any pics of the base plates? or know where I can get them?
thx

Sorry, no pictures :nonod:

All you need is to take a template off the bottom of the mounting flange you currently have on the bar and get pieces of plate steel cut/drilled to match them. I suppose you can get in touch with AutoPower as well and get them to ship you some.http://www.autopowerindustries.com/

The instructions were not that helpful. I think I just threw them away a month or so ago cleaning out some boxes in the garage. If I didn't you can have them. I'll look later and see if they are still there.

Arnie:
I did say "at the time" when I bought/installed mine that it was the only one legal for all those sactioning bodies. Mine is 1.750" x .120" tubing (I think) with both the horizontal and diagonal braces in it.

Six or seven years ago that was all you needed for the speeds I was running to get it by tech (a bone-stock L98 isn't a scorcher after all). I've since had to upgrade to a diagonal cross-brace into the passenger footwell to stiffen the car up more and get by the "5-point" requirement.

Race On!!

Who did the install and if you don't mind how much did it cost?

Fotunately for me, I live close to Dave at R-D Racing and he did the install, although it really didn't look that difficult.
