Default Winterizing

As a first time owner, I am not sure about storage of my car for the winter. I don't need to use it so it can stay in the garage until the weather clears.
Any tips on how to keep it in good condition for the next 4 or 5 months, including running it on occasion, full tank or not (or not important) etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

change the oil. check the coolant.

fill the tank and add some stabilzer to it.

run the car so it's good and warm, then put her away.

you will want to run her at least once a month.... just to keep things going.

also, get a trickle charger for the battery.

seems like there are two theories on the fuel issue
some suggest filling up the tank and adding stabilizer to keep moisture from collecting inside the tank
others suggest leaving the fuel tank almost empty with the stabilizer, and then putting in fresh fuel before starting it in the spring

 This is a great time to do maintenance, make improvements!

I ussually take mine "apart", that is remove some body panels, fender wells, radiator and shrouds and other easily removed parts.

Clean things up, retorque all the bolts, pull the spark plugs and generally get to really love the car all over again.

PS it helps to have some heat in the garage

Important part about heated garage... if your car will be in there all winter, either keep is always cold or always heated at the same temperature.

This will prevent condensation and we all know what condensation does.

I would also highly suggest putting in a couple of dessicant bags in the interior, you can get them from MAD and probably several others. I made the mistake of not using them and had a very musty smell and some mold in the carpet when I got my 85 out of storage. It's another cheap investment to save a headache or two in the spring.
