Well you have to make sure the oil level is full before worrying what is causing it.

Otherwise its sender or pump.

What did you do to get it running? In your last post it wouldn't run.

Dude this is not a Mercedes, you cant let a car that old go over a couple weeks without checking the oil level.

Start doing that once a week.

Oil pressure is obtained by the resistance caused by tight clearances in the
rod and main journals, lifter to lifter hole, oil pump gear to gear, etc. I wonder how much oil you added and how much was left in the pan. Why I say that is at low idle the oil pump would not be circulating more than 2 qts. so to add a 1/2 qt and see a difference ? What you may have is clearances that have gotten to the dangers levels. If I were you I would monitor the engines noise very closely because the next thing that could happen (as the clearances increase) would be a rod nock. good luck

:iagree: You need to get yourself in the habit (no Nun jokes). Every week (Saturday) I check the following:

Oil
Tire pressure
Coolant
Brake fluid
Trans fluid (auto)
PS fluid

Helps avoid any surprises on the road.

BTW - How large was the "thing" of oil? Quart, gallon?

Is your car burning oil? Is it a smoker?

Low oil pressure is the effect of infrequent oil changes and a heavy right foot. Your options are to change the oil more often or ask for less power from the engine.

Long intervals between changes and full throttle tear an engine to pieces in no-time.
