I'm just about ready to start my new GEN VII DFI'd 408 in my 85 and am finishing a few of the last details namely machining a billet tube to replace the MAF and was wondering about switching to one of those silicone inlet hoses. Has anyone used one of them and if so how did they fit? Do they come in black?
Thanks,
Evan.
I have one. It seems like it is some type of plastic-rubber composite. It fits fine, but the bottom of it is warping a bit. Right in front of the throttle body, yet not enough to block it. Since my car rarely sees anything over 180*, I was thinking it was from engine suction, not heat. Mine has the seam glued at the bottom which I thought was not gonna work cause it looks cheap, but it has held up over a year now. :seeya Oh yeah, mine is black.
Nice lookin motor. Those valve covers are awesome, makes me want to buy a set of non-senterbolt heards just for the valve covers.
They do sell centerbolt valve cover adaptors at Summit and a couple other places that allow you to use non-centerbolt valve covers on centerbolt heads. Could be an option. I have looked at them as a possibility. Haven't tried them though.
Re: L98 Power Coupler...does it fit? (eguyett1985)
Try looking at http://www.turbohoses.com. There should be something they have to couple the air box to 4" pipe then oval one end of the 4" with another coupler to the throttle body. Good luck with your project!
wow 7 years ago !
i got a 58mm Holley TB and my stock 87 coupler its not expandable with boiling water or heat...it won't expand so i did four cuts (up,down, left, right) and made it real tight with a clamp but ...i would like to replace it with a solid (non accordeon) design.
Any ?

Here is mine. Got it from MAM (I think). I had to lube it up pretty good with silicone grease to get it to slide over the throttle body opening as it was very tight.

what size TB? (do u think it would fit over a 58mm).
Holy Resurrection, 7 years old and just came back alive.
I'm alive...I'm alive Yeah that one is for the later MAP cars, the one I got was for my MAF system and looked like it was made from a flat piece of rubber mat and the fit was totally unacceptable. I just reused the OEM duct and made a MAF replacement tube out of billet and anodized it black and used an API air box. Works great!
