What the heck?
Interesting how Diacom P and Ease render such different results on the same 1985 vette.
Diacom P:
-showed closed loop at 2minutes run time.
-No codes detected.
-A/C reuest=no.
-A/F toggling normal between lean/rich
Ease:
-never showed change to closed loop even after 2 minutes run time.
-Codes detected:
code 52 - Calpak missing. (hardly likely)
code 53 - System overvoltage. (I couldn't detect it)
code 54 - Low fuel pump circuit voltage. (new relay installed)
-A/C request=yes.
How can these two diagnostic packages be this far off?? :nonod:
...and yes, the A/C is off!!!

Re: What the heck? (vinnies87)
I've used Diacom before and it rendered 'credible' results. I just installed the Ease package (bought in January actually) and am 'scared' by the money I dished out for these results! Now truth be told; the Ease installation is on a WinMe laptop. Could the WinMe be a problem? The Diacom P is on an old Toshiba 486 DX4 laptop. Any ideas anyone? :lurk:

Re: What the heck? (GRX)
It almost sounds like the Ease is configured wrong. Both programs have a strong following.

Re: What the heck? (88-406)
I've used EASE v2.5 and DiacomP back to back on my '87 and showed no differences in gathered data like your are seeing. Go back and look at your data and see what the STARTING coolant temp was. It takes a good 3.5 minutes to reach closed loop if the coolant was under 100* (F) at startup and less than that if it was warmer.

I've run it longer than 5 minutes and EASE never showed closed loop :nonod:

Re: What the heck? (GRX)
Maybe that replacment ECM is not exactly what's it supposed to be? Different year or something like that. Did the P/n match your orignal exactly?

Re: What the heck? (scorp508)
Just got off the phone with EASE tech support. Verdict: might be the Hypertech chip that I have in there now. I have a chip from GM coming in today. We'll see what happens.... I will follow up on this. Thank you all for your help.

The local GM parts manager double checked the p/n. Its the correct replacement ecm. The other ecm I have does the same thing.

Maybe 1985 doesn't support it, but there should be a "Desired Idle" field.

Follow-up: Tried WinALDL and got zero codes. WinALDL showed 'closed-loop'.... :D
