First off you will need to support the glasss with some kind of post as it is rather heavy.

My GM shop manual shows a nut holding the rod to the glass and a bolt holding the bottom of the rod to a bracket under the trim panel.

I suggest you remove the bolt holding the rod to the bracket; this should allow you to slip the weather strip under the rod, then reattach that rod and do the other rod.

NO!! don't remove the nut. I go off of the interior mounted post and pry it off with a screwdriver, do this carefully naturally. If you notice there is a sort of spring in the shape of a U, a spring clip sort of the holds the shock in place. I've done 20 of these b-4 and had no problems reattaching the shock. You just have to pop it off and pop it back on. Unscrewing the bolt is a waste of time.

i agree, dont undo any nut.
i just pop off the ends from the ***** they swivel on.
if it makes things any easer for you, you can just uncrew the supports.
just grab one half (like the thick half) then remember what way things unscrew (lefty loosely, righty tighty) and start twisting. it will just unscrew out of the black kinda-round-kinda-not ends that are the swivel heads.

I found this out before i learned you could unclip the defroster lines
i think its easer to do it like this, then mess with thoes stupid connectors. (always hurts my fingers messing with thoes stupid connectores they put in these cars)

[if this doesnt make sense, say so, and ill try to post some pictures to help the issue]

Thanks I got the poles apart just like you said, easy job. But now I think ZIP got me again again and sent the wrong weather stripping. It,s 4 times as heavy as the orginial one and 2 inches to short in the corners. If you ever order fender weather stripping they are $59 each not $59 for a pair

Other then maybe you ended up with the wrong year weather stripping, its probably standard aftermarket weather stripping fitting (ie not good at all). This is just from what ive heard, i havent gotten any weather stripping myself, so i cant say forsure one way or another.

but ive also heard that the aftermarket stuff does last longer, so maybe thats due to it being heavier weight stuff.
