Why is it that the car SEEMS to run better while connected to Diacom in 'diagnostics mode' ??? A/F ratios are closer to 14.7 too while in this mode.... Model 1985 vette.
I still don't think a public hack of the '870 ECM has been made public, but as you know, there is no 'normal' (just look at the data) scanning mode on the '870.
It's been about 3 years now...but I want to say that timing does change (better use a dial-back light for this to verify at the crank).
It's vague, to be blunt, but there are changes that go on. You might take a look in Helms, since it had a few ideas of what happens in Diagnostic mode (if I remember right). Also, looking at later MAF hacks might help out some to see what they did in diagnostic mode. Hopefully some of the better MAF tuners here can give you all the info!
I'm getting ready to try WinALDL by forum member JoBy. I am in the process of making the cable. Should be the tie-breaker: Diacom vs Ease (yes, I have Ease too) vs WinALDL. :lurk: See which ones "match" up to report the data acurately.
