I bought an 88 C4 on ebay. Paid $8700.00 with taxes, in state deal. The body is in good shape. Interior, fair. Tires, wore out. Anyway, I overhauled the engine cuz thats what I do, various sensors and ECM. Installed a mild cam. Damn thing pulls hard. Just figure I should have looked a little harder. I will have $12,000.00 in my 88 before it is acceptable...
you have to appreciate that the body is more expensive to repair than an engine... so with a good motor, clean up the interior, and enjoy the ride - knowing it's right!!!!! :steering:
I was actually looking for a C3. Test drove my '87 ( after jump starting) for 10 minutes in peak hour traffic, in the dark on a cold raining night and bought it there and then I was so impressed.Have had the usually older C4 problems but nothing major.Best on the spot decision I ever made.
And it turned out to be a Z51 as well!
Bought mine off ebay also. Found it in Florida and drove it home to Texas. Wasnt in the best of shape either. Between ebay and the forum it has come along way for cheap.
do not look back. think you could have bought many diferent cars that you would have to look back at (in the mirror). Life to short and it is only money. You know own a part of an American dream car that most could only wish to have. You bought a place in a brotherhood of other vett owners that share in its enjoyment. You and all my fellow vett owners always get a waive from me.
Now go mod the heck out of it and blow the doors off a rustang. you will feel better
When I had my C3 everyone took pride in their vette's condition. With the C4's (in my opinion) to many folks bought them as a status symbol and drove them without proper care and maintenance, this is reflected in yours as in mine. Mine sat and baked in direct Florida sunlight for 2 years (because an oil pump went out (not to mention all the jury rigging that went on). Each time I add a part to bring a system back on line, I tell myself (and the wife) we're one step closer. Diagnostic's showed 23 major problems with it, I'm down to 2, are they perfect repairs? most likely not, but when there done there is a sense of pride I did it myself. As far as the C4 goes it is a true american sports car not a mod of a GM car, it marked a huge technological advance for GM. As I said these are just my opinions.

Just think you could have spent that 12k an gotten a Daewoo! Do they have a forum like this? Bloomington? Carlisle? Museum? Plant tours in Bowlingreen ? You did good!! :auto:
I also bought my vette on ebay. Car was in Vegas, I live in Jerssy. I was a bit chagrinned when I viewed the car for the first time, but with patience and this forum, the cars looking good.
Enjoy!

You didn't do bad!! I almost bought a '97, sight unseen, before I picked up my '95. I had it all arranged to ship over. Luckily for me, the buyer backed out for someone local.. It all worked out for the best. Any pics of your car??
