Yep, its been posted here before, but is interesting. Some forum members have posted very good stock rwhp numbers over 300. One of the reasons the LT4 owners love these things.

I've owned several "fast" sports cars, but this is the first one that makes me "double check" everything before I mash the gas. You gotta respect the power of the LT4 engine. :yesnod:

I still can't help but thinking 390+ horsespower on a STOCK as is from the factory LT4 is plain and simple BS!!!!!!

First from what I see they never measured engine hp, they apparently measure rwhp and apply correction factors to come up with theoretical engine hp.

If I a found a stock LT4 cranking 392hp I would sure tear into to it to find out why. Exactly which mfg variable gave this result??? Even if the plant slipped in a hot cam I doubt if this would give 392.

So what is in these 390hp STOCK LT4??

They do say as delivered from factory, which means stock exhaust, intake, timing etc..

I love my LT4, but I still think.....Why didn't mine make 392hp?????

:iagree: No way getting lucky with Mfg tolerances adds up to 50+hp over stock.

:iagree: The BS alarm should be going off loud & long.....

My LT4, when stock, did 305.6 HP & 309.1 TQ at the rear wheels. I've only seen a couple that did "slightly" better stock and a lot that were in the 285-295 range. People pay big $$ to achieve LT4 figures in the 390HP and 400TQ range. :flag

I wonder if all the numbers used were SAE corrected? We should all always report SAE numbers so there is no confustion! :)

Those LT4s look to put out some good #'s, hell my 100% stock 90' Z isn't to far ahead with 332hp. The curves will look different though.

Whats the highest known (othere than that website) known 100% stock (no hot cam, exhaust etc) LT4 SAE corrected RWHP?

After owning one for a while now and seeing several dyno and having seen many dyno sheets online, the vast majority make between 290 and 300 rwhp. Very few seem to be less than 290 and I have seen several make over 300 but not much more. I dont know where they got those hokey numbers but.......

I'm with ya, somethin' a'int right with those variations. Mine did
298hp and 30x torque I can't even remember. (Stock except for
open K&N.) I've never seen anyone post results higher than just
over 300 either.

Have a good'un.............MickyD

Wave the BS flag. I have been dynoing and modifing for about 3 months now. Started out at 298 rwhp. am now up to 363rwhp on the motor. Mods are Hot cam, 52MM TB, Adj fuel pressure reg., SLP Claw, EM longtubes, Corsa Cat back with high flow Cats. When I spray NX 100 shot the rwhp goes to 448 and rwtq is 520. Sooooo with all these mods. and these results I say raise the BS flag on 390 rwhp STOCK.

They are not claiming 390 rwhp, but rather 390 flywheel hp. I still agree even that is :bs

390 at the crank is still freakin amazing if true. Using a 15% drive train factor with the 6-speed, that would still be 330+ at the wheels.

Mine with the mods in my sig made 305.x hp and 315 torque.

Mine put down 316rwhp and 312 rwtrq (corrected) with only a drop in KN filter.

I suspect there is more variance in the dyno testing process/equipment/personnel that in the LT4s themselves. :yesnod:
