Default Hypertech Coil/Cap/Rotor - Worth It?

I've read in archives where some folks are unhappy with certain Hypertech products. In particular, how does their coil weigh in vs. MSD and others?

The stock cap & rotor was replaced about 5k miles ago, by the previous owner (ACDelco items). With the Phase I mods (see my sig), would the coil, cap/rotor kit upgrade from Hypertech do me any good, or should I wait for Phase II mods? Or never?

My guess is that the coil upgrade would do much unless I got an ignition box like the MSD 6A, and even then I'm not too sure what it would all do for me.

Summit sells the Hypertech kit for $71.95

I wouldn't bother.

In the future if you did ever go to a CD style ignition (Capacitor Discharge) like the MSD boxes the Hypertech coil cannot take the power and will burn out very quickly (been there done that). It is designed as a 12v switched style coil. The MSD HEI in-cap coil though can and will take it.

The stock HEI stuff is great up to 6000 to begin with. If you had failing components then sure go for it. If they're fine now I wouldn't bother.
