Since flushing my old green stuff out and replacing with dex I have had the (geling) symtoms that others have described.Maybe I did not flush well enough, but damm this is awful. Now I seem to have a leak at my waterpump weep hole too, wich was definetly not there.THIS IS B*llpoopie
Please dump that dexcool. Go to tools>tech tips>C4>look for flushing tool. Follow that and disconnect one of the heater hoses and flush out the core too. Then go back to the green stuff. Trust us on this one. :chevy
I flushed it like crazy today and put in fresh dex, I thought that it would be better to do that than to go green-orange-than back to green. All seems fine for now but some of that stuff coming out during the flush was like paint!Ill keep you posted if something else develops in the next few days.

I learned all about the orange stuff the hard way. I replaced the heater core then was told about going back to the green. A few months later I replaced a 2 year old water pump and a radiator. I was rebuilding the engine and found the water pump problem. As the new engine was warming up for the very first time, the plastic tanks on the side of my radiator peeled away.
No more "Extended Life Orange Juice for Me" :nonod: :nonod: :nonod:
you can never remove all the contaminates with a simple flush. the only way you can go to Dexcool in a older car is rebuild the engine, replace every hose, the heater core and the radiator.
I almost made the same mistake. I was all set to flush and refill with Dex cool in my 86 . I read about the problems with dex on the forum some time ago and did my flush and refill with the green stuff. I'll keep the Dex cool for my 01 Suburban and leave the Vette with what it was intended to have. Thanks Forum!!!
I had thought about changing to the orange when I did my periodic flush but thanks to CF coming through again I will stick with the green.
When I flush my system I install a pipe T in heater hose which flushes the whole system. Another note is make sure air is purged out of block or the thermostat might not function and cause engine heating up to super hot.
I had my system flushed by a jiffy lube place and sure enough the block had air pockets and heated up on way home. I had to purge block when I got home and it cooled down.
