Finnaly recieved my Corsa exhaust system the other day so I went and had it put on. Sounds great, just like a Vette should sound like. Parked in "again" for the winter and a couple of weeks later I noticed a "Huge" oil spot underneath. It looks fairly clear, maybe redish so Im thinking it must be transmission oil. The car is a 95 with 50,000k babied miles on it. Any thoughts. If it is tranny fluid, leaving it sit there emty all winter wont hurt anything, will it? This really is driving me crazy...
No. The source of the problem will be straight (more less) above the puddle. Some people use ATF (red) in the power steering system. But reguardless whether it is a auto, manual, or power steering, no harm will come from just sitting. Hopefully, you'll find the leak in the spring, before you fire it up. Good luck, and...
Do you have the capibility to get under your Vette? I'd make sure the easy things are checked like bolts tight, etc. My return line in the power steering (metal tube from res to pump) sprung a leak at the rubber coupling. And I've heard of guys with cracks in their plastic res.

:withstupid: It could be something as simple as a transmission cooler line.
One thing to determine first is if the fluid leaks from the bellhousing part (more up front by the oil pan) or the rear tailshaft part of the tranny.
Interesting is the fact that it leaks while sitting still. Normally tailshaft and VSS doesn't leak when sitting.
If you have a converter drain back, the pan will overfill. Could leak out the VSS and tail shaft, but they will normally leak while in motion also. Oil on the rear bumper and underbody is a sign of that. Probably, maybe, could be, it is the shift lever shaft linkage seal. They are also known to leak out of the front of the pan, right at the dust cover.
If the converter drains back, it is no big problem, more of them do than you think. Check the stick, off normal is about 1/2-3/4 over full, above that, converter drain back.
Might ought to check the fill tube for the dipstick. That's another trouble spot.
Let's see if I follow - You had no leaks - had exhaust installed (at a shop I assume) - now it leaks. Is it possible something (trans cooler line) was damaged while on the lift?
How does that exhaust sound? Is it one of the bolt on types you can order from Ecklers and MAD Vette? I've been thinking about trying those. How hard was the install?
Yes, its a complete system that I purchased thru the Corvette Forum.
Got aa heck of a good deal too. Sounds like a Vette should. Real low
Rumble at idle, gets meaner as you rev it up. When you get on it she roars but at 65 mph driving down the freeway its actually quieter than the stock exhaust.
Forgot to mention this earlier but the puddle of oil was all towards the mid to front part of the car. Never leaked or burned any oil before so im thinking when the chevy dealer installed my exhaust the bumped or twisted a line.
Hoping anyway. Will have to wait til spring since you cant drive anything descent in this God Forsaken place we call Minnesota. :steering:

SORRY FOR HIJACKING
The cat backs I'd suggest are the Corsa, for nice sound and hardly any inside resonance, or the B&B system for more sound, but some resonance. Both are quality set ups. You work at Randolph or Lackland?
