My birthday is coming up soon, and I was looking at the Lingenfelter LP/SBC-211 camshaft. It says its for stock engines, and gives good idle at 750rpm. Also, that it works with the stock lifters. I've also heard that its a good idea to go ahead and replace the valve springs for this mod. By doing this how much will new valve springs cost me? Thanks..
For use with that cam, even with 1.6:1 RRs, I recommend the Comp Cams #981 single spring with internal damper. I believe these cost me about $40-$50 direct from CC.
It would be a good time to get a set of upper & lower valve seals from your local Chevy dealer too, mine cost around $55 for the set. A set of CC 7deg. keepers run about $10; good idea to prevent a dropped valve.
When you reassemble the valve train omit the tin oil shedders, that were atop the stock springs, to lighten up the valve train for a little extra safeguard against valve float.
