I am looking to put a good POWERFULL cam in my 84 vette, but i am dropping a 86 suburban engine that has been rebuilt and bored out. I want a cam the biggest size possible with out needing any mods, and one have a link i can hit up or one for sale?? thanks :steering:
Check the C4 Parts For Sale board on this Forum. There are guys selling LPE 219's, and I believe a ZZ9; both hydraulic rollers.
I believe that going much bigger is going to call for re-programming the PROM.
Engine size had a definite effect on just how "big" you can go before a lot of negatives start creeping in. Low end torque, idle vacuum and idle quality decreases when you go above 218@.050.
Keep the Lobe Seperation Angle at least 112* with the stock TPI setup.
Log on to CompCams website and send for one of their free catalogs; you can also look at their offerings while there.
My belief is that most guys over-cam their engines (the "old bigger is better" mentality).
