I have the same problem. I tried Chevy but the part is discontinued of course. I was thinking about using the little bellows looking door jamb switch covers you see on some newer Chevy's. Either that or just taking some sheet rubber and punching out holes for the linkage. I am a few months away from having to deal with it though....
That boot is held in by 3 screws, all you have to do is buy a sheet of silicone/rubber and cut the holes for the shifter linkages, cut the holes in the silicone/rubber smaller than needed and put grease on the linkages so they will slide in and out when shifting.
Thats kinda what I was thinking. What do you mean silicone rubber? I can find pliable rubber sheets around here but I have never seen them siliconized or completely silicone before.
I guess this would work,, I would want @ .250 thick rubber though,,
I would love to be able to attatch the rubber bellows to this piece of rubber, maybe I can make a frame to surround the bellows and clamp the bellows to the rubber flat piece that you describe.
If you want to attach silicone or rubber to something just use RTV Silicone. The silicone I'm talking about is the silicon compound that high performance gaskets are made of, its softer than rubber and more durable, I bought a sheet of it before to make a custom gasket but I can't remember where I got it from. It usually is blue and is very flexible.
