Has anyone, when eliminating the crap inside the catalytic converter used one of those bypass O2 sensors (the ones that tell the computer that everything is ok)? If so, whos got part Numbers, suppliers, or anything else of relevance?
I use a regular run of the mill 02 sensor in my car with no cats ands its been fine for a few years now. On an L98 the cat is downstream from the sensor so I don't think you'll have any problems. :yesnod:

You have an 86 Vette with a single O2 sensor. Gut your cat and leave the stock O2 sensor in place, it's independant of whether your cat is gutted or brand new. The O2 simulator is for 96 and up Vettes to trick the computer into thinking there's cats in place. It has nothing to do with an 86.

At one point I didn’t have a o2 bung on the passenger side so I stuck a paper clip from the driver side o2 computer pin to the Passanger side and it basically read as them being even. Which is a temporary fix. I looked for an actual eliminator for months and could only find one sketchy site that still sold them.

Your 1988 Corvette with the L98 engine uses a single, upstream O2 sensor to monitor the exhaust before it enters the catalytic converter. Older vehicles like this generally did not use a second, or downstream, O2 sensor located after the catalytic converter.
