is there a difference in the cars itself that are sent to California than say for example one that would be sold to me in NC? I have a decent deal on a 94 automatic that is in CA but if it has emissions on it that affect its performance, i may think twice. Does anybody know the answer to this?
All LT1 Corvettes came equipped the same exact way. They are 50 states emissions legal with no necessary addons as in previous years. A testament to the LT1 engine design.
Don't worry about the smog stuff. Buy the car and enjoy it.
BTW, the RPO NN5 (California Emissions) remained and was priced at $100 through '93, it changed to RPO YF5 (still at $100) for '94 & '95, it was absent in '96, it came back in '97-'99 as YF5 but priced at $179 and was present in '00 but priced at $0.
So, as mentioned, don't concern with that "paperwork" option, just buy hte Vette you want and enjoy.

Re: California Emissions (cerino2000)
GM equipped all C4s with the California smog crap. It's cheaper for them to make the same car for all 50 states then to make a special model and keep an eye on where everything is shipped.
The California cars are slower, but they're all California cars.
You used to be able to get a special 305 vette in California. I think that was in 1980 or something. :U
