Default Differential Fluid Change

How is everyone servicing thier differentials. I have a 1996 vette and the local dealer is telling me they have to drop the exhuast and the transverse leaf spring to remove the cover. I figured they could pull the fluid out threw the fill plug.

Thanks Jan

Yep, most everyone pumps it out the filler hole. I haven't done it yet but will this spring.

if you use the mobil1 syn and posi lube it will be to slippery and your posi will not function correctly but if you want 1 wheel peel then thats the ticket

use mobil1 only or coventional lube + posi lube not both

I was talking to the guys at melrose t-tops and they raced C-4's in the world challange series and they reccomend Royal Purple without additive it hooks up and makes the rest of the unit work very smooth best of both worlds. They told me before they added RP the car was difficult to push around the shop and once they put it in the car pushed more smoothly. They thought that it might not hook up but went out to the driveway and lit it up and there were two nice black marks. If it works under racing conditions then I don't think that it will have problems with any of ours. Just my 2 cents.

You can do the same thing with an open diff. The real test comes when you are cornering under power. A limited slip comes into play when the traction at each rear wheel is NOT equal.

I'd stick with the recommended lubes in your Dana. Go messing around with "trick" chit and you might end up with less.
