I just installed the NOS Wet system for TPI on my 91. I have a Superram with a 219 and headers, I run it around 46-50 for Fuel Pressure on a stock pump.

I installed the 100shot jets and the throttle activated switch.

Questions:

1- Will the stock fuel pump work with this setup (100hp)?
2- What fuel pressure should I run, or just leave it as I had before NOS?
3- The plugs are not Platinum, should I change the heat range and gap or can i just run them like they are (cut back tr-55 with 40 gap)
4. How dangerous is this setup without a window switch?
5- How dangerous without a fuel pressure safety switch?
6- Which one is more important?

Is it better to run a WOT switch or a button and why?

Thanks guys.

I am scared, but excited!

Good questions Gus (where have I heard that name before....hmmm), I'll jump in here with my 2 cents. All of my answers are based on an NX system I use, most of this stuff should apply to your NOS system as well.

1- Will the stock fuel pump work with this setup (100hp)?
Most everyone seems to agree that the stock pump will support 100 hp jets easily. Some say you can run up to 150 hp with it but I won't recommend it. I limit my system to 100 hp until I put in the Walbro GSS340M pump. At 100 hp my system is working perfectly on the factory pump. I did do a fuel pressure test before using the nitrous to verify the health of my fuel system.

2- What fuel pressure should I run, or just leave it as I had before NOS?
If NOS does this anything like NX does your N2O/Fuel jetting is application specific and based on the factory fuel pressure for your vehicle. I would contact NOS for exact fuel pressure recommendations, I believe they determined your nitrous system jetting based on what your original fuel pressure was at WOT.

3- The plugs are not Platinum, should I change the heat range and gap or can i just run them like they are (cut back tr-55 with 40 gap)
I would suggest dropping a heat range to the NGK TR-6's and gapping them at .035 but I'm sure some are running factory heat range plugs with 100 hp systems without any issues. Most, if not all, nitrous system companies recommend dropping one step in heat range for this level of nitrous system.

4. How dangerous is this setup without a window switch?
I remember using a NOS plate system so many years ago nobody had ever heard of a window switch. Dangerous depends on the user for the most part as far as this goes. The biggest benefit I see, and it's a good one, is that a window switch will keep you from hitting the rev limiter on the juice. This is BAD! If you run without one stay away from the rev limiter at all cost!

5- How dangerous without a fuel pressure safety switch?
Fuel starvation on nitrous is a HUGE no-no. There is some debate about how much good some of these safety switches do though. If the cutoff point is set very close to the expected fuel pressure the system may "toggle" due to pressure spikes when the fuel solenoid opens. Some feel that a switch set low enough not to toggle isn't providing much protection. Fuel pressure is so important here that I say you should install one.

6- Which one is more important?
Both important, different reasons.

Is it better to run a WOT switch or a button and why?
I run both. I am in control of my system but limited to WOT only, fairly safe that way. The WOT switch is most important on these nozzle systems that spray forward of the TB for obvious reasons. Otherwise, the WOT switch and window switch make for a very "user friendly" system. It takes the guesswork out of the hands of those not familiar with the limits of the nitrous system. Again, many years ago I used to just use a button and it worked fine but a system like that is open to operator error and the results of a mistake are costly. You have to decide how good you are and how much protection you need from yourself really. Since you are new to this you might consider activating your system with a WOT switch and controlled by a window switch.

Thanks guys.

No need to be scared. :jester All the reason in the world to be excited!
Your gonna love it!

One other thing, are you running any extra ignition advance? Initial timing or by way of the computer? This wouldn't be a good mix with the nitrous system. If your initial timing is stock and your computer is not adding more timing than the factory did then you are OK. Just make sure and use good premium fuel and if you hear any pinging at all, LIFT!.

There's a lot of extra torque to go along with that 100 hp your going to get, be ready for large amounts of tire spin when you hit it in first gear. :D

Hope this helps, it's what works for me. Others may have different views on some of this so listen to more than just me and enjoy your new horsepower!

Al. :seeya

Thanks for all the good responses. I will post results as soon as I finish the system and run it.

As luck would have it a cold front moved in and I dont have a bottle warmer!

It should be 75 and sunny in a few days.

I am stuck @ 13.0 N/A so i would like to see 12.0 with 100shot. If I had decent tires I bet I could do 12.5 NA and 11.6 NX

Whats more important..?

your window switch...why? Because you might launch with wheelspin and hit the rev limiter and not realize it. it will climb so fast that you wont be able to take your foot off the gas in time.

This has happened to me.

There is no reason why you should have low fuel pressure, if you did it would cauze problems NA as well.

I got tired of my system toggleing with the Fuel pressure safety switch until fuel pressure equalized.

WIre the ground of the nitrous solenoid to the FPSS so that it wont connect it until fuel pressure has stabilzied (takes half a sec or so with stock fuel pump).

Why NX does not have you do it like that is beyond me. They have it set up 'stupidly' with the ground of both solenoids on the FPSS. Their recommendation is to set the FPSS lower, so low that it wont protect you in the event of low fuel pressure.
