Well the 383 is almost built and I've completely neglected the fuel system. I have a 383 with 10.5:1 comp. The heads are ported by me(complete amateur) with Ferrea valves 2.0 and 1.56 valves and an LT4 hot cam.
Am I going to need bigger injectors and/or a fuel pump? I've been told my setup should make around 400+ flywheel HP, not sure what it will make but I would say that for a ballpark figure. So, are these stock 24lb LT1 injectors good enough and stock fuel pump good enough? I really have no future plans for mods on this car so 450hp will be the most this motor will ever see if that.
I have several. I calculated the injector size and fuel pressure I needed from equations I obtained from FI books and magazine articles for my 355 402Hp L-98. I calculated I needed 50 psi pressure with 24Lb injectors to support 400 HP. On the dyno my HP numbers were terrible until the dyno tech lowered my fuel pressure to 42 psi. I picked up 60Hp to 402HP with a 12:1 AFR. Lesson 1) Don't trust calculations. 2) I would recommend 30 lb injectors because you want to keep the injector duty cycle below 80% and as you increase fuel pressure you slow down the opening response time of the injector.
