I just got a couple of replacement GM trim pieces (radio bezel and center piece for the passenger A/C vent) and the coating on them is nothing like the original coating on my 94.
The original coating is smooth and glossy. The new pieces are rough, matte, and less rubbery. Looks like it might be more durable, but it doesn't remotely match the old stuff.
Does anybody know if the 95 or 96 cars had this rough matte covering? If it was a change in the later cars I guess that's fine, but if GM just changed this coating on the replacement parts only, I'm :mad
Re: WARNING on GM replacement dash trim pieces (steve9899)
Did you get the correct year?
I've ordered several new parts from Chris May (Superior Chevrolet) and they fit perfect...like OEM. This includes the center console and change cup among items.
Re: WARNING on GM replacement dash trim pieces (No Go)
The radio bezel is a superceded part #. GMPartsDirect and Superior Chevy gave me the same superceded part #. Which is why I'm wondering if it was a change in the later cars.
The other piece I think is the same part # as the original.
