Default '90 dash LED question

Hi, all. Newbie here. Bud Terry from South Jersey. My dash is acting up which I hear is a common ailment. Before I do a nearly $300 exchange with instrumentclusters.com, any tips on R&R or diagnostic info?

My dash will sometimes work fine other times it will go nuts. Sometimes flickering. Sometimes appearing to try to run a diagnostics by cycling through all the LED segments in a clockwise pattern. Sometimes appearing to try to alternate between eng/met (hitting the switch has no effect). This behavior does NOT seem to be caused by vibration, jarring, or temperature. it's totally random.

TIA...

that is the 2nd gen dash. they are noted for being much more reliable then the first gen IP's.

I would think it has crashed... so to speak. It sounds like its in a self check loop of some sort.

a couple of ideas...

1) disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then try again.

2) remove the IP and make sure all connections are tight and secure.

otherwise... get a new IP...
