[PIC] What sensor is this??

[PIC] What sensor is this??
It is on the passenger side of the block, in the center just above the oil pan. I found it disconnected when I was trying to find an engine rattle. Anybody know which sensor this is, and what if anything is happening because it is disconnected??

Sounds like the knock sensor, I can't remember if its on the pass or drivers side. is the connector round?

Yep if it is round it is your knock sensor. It detects harmonic distortions that a properly running engine won't make and pulls timing out if detected.

haha whoops forgot to post the pic, guess i dont need to now, yes it is round and on the passenger side of the block. What is it going to harm by not having it connected for the time being? Will that put my car in limp home mode or base timing or anything??
