Default Problems with programming my PKE system

I've got a 1993 coupe and I'm trying to reprogram the original remote that came with the car for the PKE system. I had the battery disconnected for about 5 hours last night, and when I reconnected it the PKE system wasn't working. I've checked both of the two listed fuses for PKE according to the manual (the ones on the side of the dashboard on the passenger side) and they both seem to be good. The other thing I'm not able to do is change the remote setup so that both doors are unlocked when I press the door key on the remote. The remote buttons work fine, they open the hatch and passenger door with no problem, but I can't seem to reprogram for PKE, and I can't get the car to open both doors with the remote. I'm going to try the battery in the remote, but I don't think that that's the problem, since it works opening the door and hatch.

I really need to get this fixed soon, can someone please help me?

To reactivate the system hold down the door button until the locks cycle. Maybe 5 secs. or so. To program the doors, put the key in the ignition, donot turn on, again hold the door button until the locks cycle, open both, etc. With the PKE inactive the door button will only open the pass/door.
