Thanks for the kind words Dan, you coming up this spring to do an autocross or track day with us?

I can also say Dan has his Vette dialed in real nice, it sounds like a big block when he hits that 100 shot.

Dan96 - so with a hotcam, headers, RRs, and a catback - 400 is a pretty good goal?

Or - did you do the entire LT4 upgrade (heads, intakes, etc - the entire kit?)

Just trying to make sure I know what folks are offering.

I have done this package and am planning on getting it dynoed, I missed the last local Dyno day event!! The only thing I don't have are the long tubes. I will get some later on. I have ran with an '03 Cobra and a Porsche turbo(390hp,and 415hp respectively) And surprised the heck out of them, of course this was on a sanctioned track. :D

400 at the crank is a reasonable figure with LT4 (or equivalent heads) and a cam similar to the Hotcam in specs. I wouldn't worry too much about the LT1 .vs LT4 intake. Even though the LT4 intake ports are supposedly "matched" to the .100 raised ports of the LT4 head, I'm not confident that GM can actually produce a product that precise :)

We're talking a company that has razor sharp monetary skills and dull rock engineering implementation (not that they don't have the capability, mind you).

Mike (STL94LT1) really does have a good package that others should try to emulate. He's got nice flowing LT1 heads (at a price that is close to stock LT4 heads but a touch better flow).. and a "smart" cam (meaning the duration and overlap aren't crazy..less than the Hotcam.. but the lift is nice... more than the Hotcam). This package gives very nice numbers and should have terrific street manners.

No reasonable person should complain about performance if they copy Mike's (STL94LT1)'s setup.

EDIT: I also have to make a mention about valves... the stock LT4 springs (which would come with a conversion kit) are matched to the LT4 valves. The LT4 type valves (which will be included if you purchase the LT4 head) have hollow stemmed intake valves and partially sodium filled exhaust valves. These valves are considerably lighter than the stock LT1 valves.

What this means is if you use the LT1 valves in combination with the LT4 springs, you may not be able to fully utilize the RPM band of the Hotcam (or a similar cam). The Hotcam peaks at 6400RPM with stock exhaust and/or shorty headers. You won't realize gains unless you're willing to spin that high.

The heavier LT1 valves matched with the relatively weak LT4 springs is not a good combination beyond 6300rpm (if that).

Keep that in mind when "upgrading".

Here they are... They're a bit small here, but if you right click and save them locally, they're a bit bigger and you can read the text.
