Default TPIS PORTED LT1 HEADS

Anyone had any experience with the tpis hand ported lt1 heads. they are $1250 but are offered exchange so you dont have any down time. the flow #'s that they have published in the lt1 insider hints book are very nice and are even 20cfm more in the upper lift amounts. i am trying to make a decision on the heads for my car but i am not sure between the lt4, the afr, or now i see that trick flow offers a head for the lt1. what should i do?? :auto:

To my thinking, the factory casting has only so much room (metal) for porting before you'd grind through one of the walls.

If I was looking to spend $1250, I wouldn't think twice and would by AFRs heads. No exchange required and you could then sell your heads to add to your savings.

The AFR heads should outflow ported LT1s to boot basically because the casting is different/better.

Just my thoughts.

LT1 heads seem to go for about $200.

What cam are you running, thats the million dollar question. Huge wicked cam and a 396? Id think outside LT1 castings.

Xe 224? LT1 castings sound great. Im not a fan of TPIS though FWIW

How about CNC porting the heads? Worked pretty good (412hp/405tq, 12.2 sec) according to this article:
