To start I have a '93 6spd(D-44) Coupe. I ordered the rear suspension bushing kit from Corvette Central and I'm not sure who actually makes it though. I replaced the control arm bushings, the spindle arm bushings, and the spring cushions. I now have to fairly large bushings left over. They seem to be about the size the of the differential carrier bushings but not as fat. Any experiences with this kit, does it come with diff. bushings or is this for something I can't see.
Also, what needs to come off. I pulled the bolts off the carrier bushings but could only lower it about a half inch due to the spring pressure. Can I just remove the spring and lower the diff or what?
well if you remove the retaining nut to the bolt that holds the spring... that should release the tension and let the Diff slide down enough to get to those bushings. Be forewarned, those Diff-to-Carrier bushings are pressed in and have a metal sleeve that must come out. It's a job so be careful.
Funny though, I had two bushings left over when I did the rears way back when, and they weren't for the Diff. Never did figure it out- they're still in my toolbox. :D
Yeah, I was wrong, a little bit of confusion on my part. They are definitely not for the Diff. So what are they for? They are not the control rods, spindle rods, spring cushions, or tie rod end boots and that's all the kit says it comes with.
It does mention trailing arms, I just figured it was another name for the control arms, or is it another item back there?
They are three pieces as you mentioned. They are about the same size as the ones that go into the control rods. I had the ones earlier mixed up with the ones that go into the cam bolt on the spindle rods so they are definitely not big enough to go into the diff. bushings.
