I have a 84 vette crossfire how much would 3.73 or 4.10 help and dose anyone know how much they cost? THANKS :auto:

The rear end in the 84 is a D36, across the board. the biggest you can fit is a 3.73 without upgrading to the D44.

I think gears are about $200~$250 or so... PLUS!!!! Installation!!!! It is NOT a job for the shade tree mechanic. It requires special tools...

I would look for a D44 and new c-beam... the D44 will up you to 3.45 rear gears... that will be a huge jump!!!

The overall price will be about the same, with much greater upgradeablity.

I would also look at performance mods to the xfire... there are things you can do that will really help performance... there are newer intakes and options available. I am sure that other xfire owners will eventually chime in...

You would be looking at around $275 for a GOOD set of gears and then another couple hundred if you pulled your own differential out and brought it to someont to install.

Unless your 84 no longer has the crossfire engine in it, 3.73 or 4.10 gears will hurt your performance.
