Default '95 LT1 - Coolant Temperature Sensor

Is the analog and digital temperature gauge for the engine coolant driven by the same temperature sensor? Or are there two separate sensors?

Also, when filling the coolant system after draining, I open the bleed valve on the passenger side and below the throttle body until a stream comes out. I get high and erratic readings from the analog gauge and steady readings from the digital gauge for several as if there is an air bubble that needs to get cycled out of the system. How can you get different readings from the same sensor?

The analog temp sensor is in the passenger side head, and the digital temp sensor is on the front of the water pump. I believe the PCM runs off the digital sensor.

there are 2 sensors... one on the water pump, and it informs the digital display and the ECU...

I am not sure where the other one is...

Good article on differing temp readings on this site.
