Default 95 LT1- Venting Cooling System?

Can anyone tell me the proper way to vent the cooling system on my LT-1. The owners manual says to use the bleed valve below and on the passenger side of the throttle body. I fill the system thru the reservoir until a stream comes out of the bleed valve. I always get erratic and high temperature readings (250 F) from the anaolg gauge only for several cycles as if an air bubble is trapped within the system. The digital gauge remains steady (195 -200) at the water pump. The bubble gets flushed out after 10 minutes of running and the analog will swing quickly from 250 down to 190 and back.

Is there another bleed valve?

On my '94, there are 2 bleed valves. One is on the base of the throttle body, on the drivers where the coolant line enters. The other is on the thermostat cap. I typically vent from both places until I get a dribble of liquid. Then I buttom it up and take it for a spin. I haven't noticed any of the erratic reading that you describe, but come to think of it, I usually keep my eye on the digital gauge and ignore the analog one.

My '95 book says there are two. I have not been able to find the second one on my '95 car.

You can also burp the coolant system by: Remove the radiator cap, start the car and bring it up to operating temps (thermostat open), then rev the engine to around 2,000 rpms, while still reving pour coolant in the tank and put the radiator cap back on. This will force air out of your system.
