How much fuel pressure does a 84 corvette have? I was told to use a fuel reg. but JEGS told me the fuel reg may not work and burn up my pump, because its to much pressure to adjust and they think i have about 40-60 fuel pressure and i only need 6.
Nine to thirteen pounds is the spec for the stock fuel pressure, as it is regulated. You would have to block off the regulator to see what the pump will develop. You will find this info in the manual, I am SURE you have ordered, from www.helminc.com. I imagine it will be showing up any day, now, RIGHT? Besides the fuel pressure spec, it will show you how the fuel (and all other) system(s) work. Good lucl, and...
When I start my 84 it's at 14psi, after it warms up it's at 12psi. I also have a high pressure fuel pump that pumps about 40psi but the injectors regulate the pressure and keeps it at 12-14psi. I have a pretty good FP Gage.
Ok so if i got the fuel reg for the carb setup it will work right and not mess up my fuel pump any way?
Maybe, Maybe not. The efi regulator regulates the fuel pressure after the injectors before the regulator-- bleeds off the excess. All the fuel pump sees is the regulated 10 to 13 psi.
Most carb regulators are installed between the pump and carb. The carb regulator regulates the pressure after the regulator. Depending on the pump the pressure after the pump and before regulator can be anywhere from 6 to 40 plus psi. Not Good!!
I think CFI-EFI sitting online all day on his butt and waits for chances to be a jerk and make smart remarks GET A LIFE. thanks dan I guess I will have to get a lower PSI fuel pump

A good set of manuals is a valuable asset. If you don't have them you need them..
Question: Aren't you trying to install a edelbrock intake and 600 cfm carb? The stock crossfire flows approx 572 cfm. Isn't this a lot of work for something that has no performance gain?
