I have a brand new rebuild kit for the D44, which has all the needed parts for the carrier. I bought it earlier in the summer, and then got a complete carrier, which eliminated my needs for the rebuild kit. Its has all the spiders, clutches, etc still wrapped in plastic wrap. I think it was around 260-280 dollars if my failing mine recalls. If you would like it, please let me know as its just collecting dust and I am going to have a spool made for my rear, so its will really not be of any use to me in the future.
That is just a replacement for the "batwing" not the internals/carrier which is 99% reposible for the failure modes. I don't think a heavier cover is going to do anything. Just my .02 :skep:
