After break-in, I would say none. I wouldnt accept any measurable oil consumption if it was my engine.

Its hard to say but if your rings aren't seated..... rather than scrape the oil from the cylinder walls you'll burn it, but at 5000 miles your rings should be seated and I would say less than one half quart..............big blocks seen to use about a quart or more. My 85 when it had 120,000 on the motor used about quart at 3000 miles....hope this helps sounds like your having a problem. :chevy

Depends on the ring package you chose, the piston to wall clearance and cylinder wall finish; torque plate used to insure a round hole.

For example, I've taken a fresh engine with only enough running time to set the timing and warm the fluids, right to the starting line and it ran it's best ET and MPH, but I always used Speed Pro single plasma moly rings (which seat almost instantly provided the correct bore finish is used) and the standard tension SS50U oil ring set. No oil usage.

So, it depends on those variables.

How much is it using? What parts went into it?

ok.. I'm not sure exactly if its burning it.. I've had two leaks I had to fix.. one was the front seal @ the oil pan.. the two nuts there loosed and had to be torqued down.. Also the valve cover gasket on the passenger side was leaking around the bottom and lastly all the valve cover bolts were leaking around that rubber gromit in the valve covers.. but with those condition it used about 1/2 quart in 3000 miles.. with lots of high RPM passes on it..

I have since fixed the oil pan leak.. or so it appears so far.. I have also R&R'd the valve cover gasket and replaced the rubber gromits @ the valve cover bolts.. so I think all the leaking is done.. Maybe i'll change the oil tomorrow and check it every 1000 miles..

BTW: The machine shop used torque plates when boring and honing the block.. The pistons are KB hyerutetics.. the rings are plasma moly rings..

Also, there is no smoke blowing out the back of the car under heavy acceleration or any other time.. also, no oil buildup @ the tailpipe and the plugs are clean as a whistle... no signs of oil buildup on them...
