Default Gutted Cat question

I gutted my cat yesterday as I think it was adding to my overheating problems. The headers are now running a lot cooler now.
My question is for you guys with gutted cats, does your exhaust now have a tinny, echo chamber noise under the car? If so, what have you done about it?
Cheers

First off, I’m not a guy with a gutted cat. It seems with the gutted cat you now have a big-o-echo chamber sort of thing. I have heard of guys installing a pipe thru the cat so they keep the “smooth” airflow.

That booming sound is most likely due to the effect of the expansion of hot gases in the now effectively larger chamber area of your gutted (pre-cats I'm assuming), then the constriction of those gases at the exit pipe of the precats. Yup, you'll want to install "test" pipes in those cats to eliminate the problem and to smooth out the nasty turbulence caused with the destruction of the sweet honeycomb :D

yeah its better to stick a straight pipe in the cat or have one welded to replace the cat altogether

Yes a plugged cat will cause heating issues and the sound is from the cat being hollow.
