Help settle a bet, please
Cabo and I have a bet about his 87 block. I said it was non-roller and he said it was a roller. What did his 87 L98 come with (stock)?

I own and drive everyday an 87 L98. The engine has roller lifters.

Re: Help settle a bet, please (VetteNoob)
My 1984-1989 Corvette parts book shows clearly, 1984-1986 as one lifter, and 1987-up, as the other. If there was a mid-year change, it isn't evident by the parts book. That means 1897 is a roller. BUT

The bet is about the BLOCK. It is my understanding that quite a few flat tappet cams were installed in roller blocks before the introduction of the roller CAM. The guy betting on the '87 being a roller block, gets the cash. Good luck, and...

all 87 blocks are rollers unless it has been replaced with a older block.
