does anyone else notice the AC compressor engagment while driving?
I had a slight surge I thought was the result of too much spark.. however, I've come to realize it only happens when the A/C compressor is cycling.. if I turn the HVAC control head from 'auto' to 'off' I dont get the slight surge.. I don't remember this happening before I stroked the motor.. but maybe I just wasn't paying attention as much.. Also, The exhaust is much louder, so I can hear slight changes in engine while cruising.. does anyone else experience this? Is this normal? if not, any ideas how to eliminate this condition?
I would describe the symptom as a mild hesitation at low rpm cruise (under 2500rpm).. its momentary..

YUP! i feel mine. I did have the clutch replaced recently though, and i haven't felt it as much though. When i get the car back running again i'll let ya know. I haven't run the A/C much since i got the clutch replaced, haha... go figure (winter).

Never noticed that with my,'94 LT1,A4, stock exhaust. AC still has OEM 'charge'.
You won't notice it with an auto as the torque converter makes it so that the slight feeling with the clutch isn't felt. A manual you can feel it because it's direct through with no slipping.

and, you should see it on the honda.. all the lights dim and the tach drops a 3-4 hundred.
:lolg: :lolg: :lolg: I suppose you could push in the cigerette lighter and see a 1000rpm drop in a honda... :lolg: :lolg:
I am stilll one of those people who consider *** cars the biggest joke to 4 stoker engines... totally disposable... (ok those and the chevy caviler) :p:

When is the compressor supposed to cycle? When it reaches the set temp?
Mine cuts in and out at like 15 sec intervals as soon as I turn the A/C on.In most thermostatic control situations the unit runs constant until the set temp is reached then cycles to maintain it.Have had system changed to eco friendly gas and new dryer.Works perfect but does not pull the temp down as fast as when running constant.Should it run when heating?
I can hear clutch engaging when using heat only.
Problem with electronic controller?

I think it engages anytime the "auto" function is used.. weather its heating or cooling.. I think it helps pull the moisture out of the air before entering the car... (this is also the same reason it runs when the defrost is on).

Also, you want the A/C compressor to be used a little bit during winter driving because regular use keeps the seals in the A/C lines in good shape. If the compressor stayed offline for long seasons over and over the pressure line seals would go bad faster. At least thats's the way it used to be :)
