Ok, I finally scraped some pennies together to actually put mufflers on my 85. Right now, my exhaust ends where the cat ends, no y-pipe, no nothing. A guy at work has 2 dynomax glasspacks for 40 bucks. They're the ones in the summit magazine, the bullet style under hardcore racing parts. I'm looking for a mean sound, couldn't care less how loud it is. I'm also looking for CHEAP. My buddy says he hates those dynomax race cans, and told me to get flowmaster instead. Opinions?
is it really that loud? I still got young ears that need plenty of damage :D
which would sound meaner though, the dynomax bullet racing muffler (glasspack?), or flowmasters? and what would it sound like with my existing cat?
I like the idea of having true duals, but that goes against my dirt cheap policy though. My non-existent mufflers provide a sound I kinda like, but I want to have something there. Looks funny with no tailpipes.
Dynomax bullet will be louder than a Flowmaster. If it IS a Dynomax bullet, it's not a glasspack, I'm about 99% sure of that :yesnod: You'll get more flow with the Dynomax, more like you're sound now, but Flowmasters often give a deep rumble that a lot of people nationwide like. In the end, you need to listen to two vettes and decide your favorite.
the only reason I dont wanna keep straight pipes is so I can have some sort of tailpipe visible. looks funny now since its chopped off after the cat. so i'm gonna see if my coworker brought them in today and buy them.
what kind of y-pipe should i get, and where from? I wanna order one today.
what would I be looking at for installation of y-pipe and these two almost-mufflers?
oh, here's a quick exhaust question, cause i'm exhaust stupid. when I go shopping online for a y-pipe, I need one for the back. aftermarket for that DOES exist, right? i'm starting to get the hint that all the y-pipes i've found are for the front y-pipe, which i'm leaving alone for now. if an ad mentions "y-pipe", do they mean front or rear?
