Anyone know an outlet for good pricing on the Power Effects Exhaust System?

 

Talk to Joe at Lawrence-Keech (the makers). He'll usually deal on the price and might consider a CF discount. When I bought mine several years ago, he gave me a better price than what was advertised. Nice guy to talk to as well.

I'd be interested in picking up a PE system for my 91. Perhaps buying more than one, we can get a better price. :cheers:

 

hey when you call ask him if they are still working on a remote operater for the system. I e-mailed them about every six months asking. I'm about due to ask again. just may thought they lost interest in the project. it would be nice to open&close from the inside.

haha... They've been working on that one for quite a while. Atleast 3 years or more. Someone let us know if you end up calling PE directly.

I have the system, and it sounds great, but it sure resonates at cruising speed. It's darn near ruined my hearing, got a constant ringing in my ears now for two and half years, and it started with this system, of course I can't say this caused it, but there sure is correlation. Beware. My only complaint.

 

I found the same thing, but with the pipes closed it was gone for me. I think that the resonator that PE provides for the LTx cars may cut down on this a bit. The L98 application (at least mine) did not come with any resonator or x-pipe. The really deep nature of the exhaust note with this exhaust can cause a drone/resonance. Open the windows, it gets better! <grin>

Does not come in 3". Don't hold your breath on the remote system.
Joe normally will give you the show pricing. He is willing to do a GP but he will not ship the systems to different locations. The GP will need to be worked out offline of Corvette Forum since he is not willing to become a vendor. This of course was info I received from Joe five yrs ago. So call him for the latest.

I installed the PE on my completely stock 91 L98 auto trans w/2.59 rear. I had no resonance what so ever. After my precats blew out then I started to notice resonance. Installed a RT main cat, the resoance was more noticable.

I sold my 91 and removed the PE and installed it on my 96 LT4. The resonance was very little around 2,000rpm. Install RT cats and now it's more noticable. The great thing about this system is you can shut down the flaps to make it quite and almost no resonance. I adjust the flaps diferently for autoxing, drag strip and cruising around. You can feel the torq diference and HP difference on the different settings. Plus I'm not into the chrome scene so black works for me. They do sell chrome tips if you want some more flash.
So for $835 it's not a bad system. You don't need the center resonator which will bring the price up for LT1/4 part number. I installed the L98 part on my LT4 very easily. Just cut the pipes right after the stock resonator and the PE slipped on snuggly. No welding required. I highly recommend this system. The Corsa also if you like that sound and the chrome. I'm not impressed by the weld seems or the sound and chrome look though. I'll comment more later if I have time.


I'm working on a remote hookup for my PE. I'll let you knwo when i have it working.

Bill, the inlet and outlet on the capsule is 3". You can buy just the power capsule, but they don't make a full 3" system. I was going to buy just the capsule and have custom 3" piping made up for my car.

 

Surf, I'm assumming your plan for the capsules is (or might be was, now) for the BK2?

 

Yea I had looked into it for a while. Not now though :(

Had a custom 3" exhaust with interchangeable high flow cats/off road pipes and xpipe connected to the tuneable PE capsule's. Close the system when driving to the track. Have the original pipes from PE if anyone wants them.

 

I talked to him a few months back & still not remotes available at that time...
