Good freakin grief! I can not get this pin out. Ive been hitting it with a punch and have barely gotten any movement. I think Im about to be able to grab it with some vicegrips and get it out. I hope I have warped my headlight frame or anything.
Any better advice on removing the next one? :cuss :cuss

I used an old drill bit that was just a smidge smaller than the pin. Turn the bit upside down so the flat part is against the pin. I also put a small piece of wood between the frame and the the the pin is in to support it. Worked OK. The only problem I had when I rebuilt mine a couple of weeks ago was snapping off one of those tiny bolts holding the motors. Real pain.

It shouldn't put up that much of a fight. I did both on my 89 and recently my 92. Not to sound stupid, but the punch is smaller than the hole? Also you might have to support the motor so when you hit the punch the assembly doesn't absorb the hit. Make sense?

I know what you mean when you open it up and see just a little powder left in it. Second side is always easier once you reverse everything in your head.

Though the pin is "fun" enough you might want to use a ball driver to easily get at two of those Torx bolts holding the motor to the frame.
After you pry the case apart to get at the nylon gear and three bushings you might want to file a flat on ridge inside that nylon gear and mark it's location on the outside. That will make the gear easier to slide back into the case and you can you can easily locate the flat next time.

There are two almost identicle Tech Tips already posted in tools. Check them out for help on doing another. I can't figure out how to put pictures in a tech tip.
