Headers again
i know that the common consensus is that long tubes make more power but i was thinking about this versus my current setup. i have pure open exhaust after about 9 inches of tubing. it dumps right onto the ground after it leaves the manifold via a split and a cutout plate. one on each side. so now i have the factory manifolds and then about 9 inches of exhuast pipe that points straight down. i plan on replacing the manifolds with some shorties since they'll be able to bolt right up but was thinking that the claim that the long tubes make more power is since they are used on a full exhaust system on a car. since mine is significantly less what would the deal be for me? guess the question is if you had just headers, LTs or shortys, would there be a difference if there were no exhaust past the headers? thanks so much fellas.

hMMM I bet that thing is LOUD! I actually think you would still have more of a gain with LT's and turn down pipes than shorties with em turned down. Umm I figure it has something to do with the equal length stuff. You could always cut holes in the hood and use 1 pipe per exhaust outlit Jesse James style.... That would be cheap..... J/k :D

Id have to actually see your exhaust to say whether its better to have longtubes, but with cutouts it might be better to get the shortys.

Unless you're running nothing but WOT in the upper RPM ranges you'll benefit from the broader torgue curve of the long tubes.
