Unless you have low resistance aftrmarket wires it won't do much except probably cause your stock wires to fail faster. Trying to shoot higher voltage through stock carbon filled wires is like trying to suck molasses through a straw.

Indeed you get the best results when you consider the "system".
I run the HyperTech coil/cap/rotor on the IROC with MSD 8.5mm wires and cut back SplitFire plugs at .0435"; and on the Vette with TPIS wires and AC Delco cut back plugs at .045".
In both cases the performance setup is worth about 8-10chp gain and a little better fuel economy.

No ignition system is going to give you horsepower gains unless something is terribly wrong with the current one.
Changing spark plug gaps does work though because its exposing more spark to the chamber allowing for better combustion, apparently the L98 likes more than the factory gap.
The stock cap/coil/rotor stuff is more than adequate for the L98.

I have one on my 88 and can say it is worth the money just for the cool factor of when you open the hood and see the big WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE sticker on the top. You probably won't notice a dramatic improvement but every little bit helps. :thumbs:
