What is a better set up??
Vortex Ram Air or the Cold Air induction system.
What do you all think is a better set up??????
I heard that if your car is basically stock,,, they are bad Azz, but with MODs,,, they hold it back quite a bit,,, I dont understand that but,,, thats what I have been told...
Aguy at TPIS of San Antonio told me with some L-98's they have seen 25 extra HP on stock vette........
I think I am going to pick one up,,, besides they look cool as hell huh,,, dont you think.........
With a ram air setup you should run a little rich at low speeds so that it doesn't lean out too much as you pick up speed.

They look good, sound good, but dont do much for performance.
They look good, sound good, but dont do much for performance.
But to think that it is not better than an open lid, I find that a little hard to believe.
I realize the mag exagerates a little bit,,, but when they say you will gain 20 and then I only get 3 or 4?
I mean I am not flaming,,, but why hasnt anyone said anything about false advertising?
TPIS,, which is a pretty respected company on the forum and with all vette owners and f-body guys,,,, Thye say the air foil get 10hp..... Why would they say that. Yeah I know so you buy the POS right?
:flag

If an airfoil gets 10hp, then they did something else to that engine to get it, because the airfoil didnt do sh**.
Yes, anything you see in Ecklers, MAD, etc. that says it gives a big HP gain is basically a lie if applied to a motor that runs great and is in tune now.
Only thing in the catalogs worth buying is exhaust, that does give gains.
People here have tested the various intakes, and they really dont give the help they advertise. Those like the SLP or TPiS would be good on a modded motor, and do help performance-wise but not nearly as much as they tell you. Not on the stock L98 at the least, the only way id expect a 20hp gain is from having either a bigger engine or a radical combination and have a dirty filter and the stock lid.
You must also notice that the ones that require a hole to be cut in the shroud alter the airflow over the radiator, so you must have some cooling mods to run them because it will overheat much faster.
