Injector life span and testing
I have a '90 and I was wondering what is the life expectancy of the injectors?
What are some ways to test them?
I meaured the resistance on them and in general I found 16 ohms. But I have three cylinders that are not firing and the resistance of the injectors are 5,10,16. I think the injectors with 5 and 10 ohms are clearly bad, and perhaps the one with a normal reading of 16 is clogged.
I have checked everything on this engine and the only unknown is the injectors.
It looks like it is a major job to replace an injector. From what I can tell, it seems necessary to remove the top half of the intake?
Thanks,:flag
I'm sure this has been covered many times, but the search function on this forum does not work worth beans.

You can check the others injectors for leaks too by connecting the fuel lines to the fuel rails with the injectors OUT of the intake but still connected to the fuel rails.
Energize the fuel pump and check the tips of the injectors for any sign of leakage.

You can replace your injectors by removing the plenum and leaving the runners in place. You'll have to remove your EGR valve and partially disassemble your fuel rail assembly by detaching the tubes from the left rail to allow you to pull the rail halves out. Be sure to replace the "O" rings on the tubes when reassembling your rail.
