Re: 94lt1 performance (dave beaudoin)
Welcome junior member, by the way! I'm sure you'll get no shortage of suggestions and if you hang around here for a few days you'll get more ideas than you can soak in all at once. Lotsa' sharp guys around here! :yesnod: :yesnod:
There's a TON of things you can do. I just finnished with the first round of mods on my 94 LT1 and put an extra 60hp in it. Couple things to consider...
*** What's your budget???
1) do you want to get into the engine?
2) do you just want to slap on a buch of bot-ons?
After certain mods (such as a cam or injectors) you will have to re-program your PCM to take advantage of them & to make it run correctly. I had mine re-programmed by TJWONG (member here on the forum) and he did a wonderful job with it.
Mods in my sig and hp results.... all in all decently cheap stuff and worth it. Some of them of course didn't contribute whatsoever to hp increases. Also, 135k miles on my car :smash:
HI greggo I dont really want to or can afford to get real serious with engine right now it has 95,000 and runs great I put a borla rear section mufflers on for $500. and expected at least a more ferocious sound but it still sounds like a wussy and where those 15 extra ponys went beats me well maybe i do notice a little bit better performance and when you wind it up it sounds somewhat better to but for 500 i guess i expected a snarling sabre tooth tiger. When the engine starts to go or about 150,000 i will have it rebuilt and have it bored 396ci sounds nice but dont know if i can but thats latter for now I was thinking about air induction and getting someone to reset computer but live in boondocks and dont know who knows their stuff or just says they DO also someone in forum spoke highly of the bosch injecters for $100.and found those just arent sure if it takes more than i know to install them well anything you can suggest will be very much appreiciated thanks
Injectors are a simple instalation. You will need a quick disconect wrench for the fuel lines, sold at any auto parts store for about $5, and a socket for the fuel rail, I think it is a 8mm but am not sure. You just relaese the FP then disconect the lines unbolt the fuel rail (4 bolts) and gently pry the ruel rail and injectors up. Then disconect the clips that hold the injectors to the rail, remove the old injectors ( make sure you get the gasket out of the fuel rail if it doesn't come out with the injector) and install the new injectors with a new o rings and reinstall the fuel rail, reconect the lines tighten the bolts and you are done. My advise is to clean everything before you start to prevent dirt from droping into the injector holes, and once you have removed the rail and injectors place rags in the holes and clean again. The last time I changed mine it took less then an hour.
