Default Crankcase pressure and PCV

Noticed oil around valve cover screws. Hoping it's caused by bad PCV valve. How often does everyone change them? :seeya :steering:

They're cheap to replace, so go ahead. Also check the Vacuum-Hose/Tube(s) to make sure they are not leaking too.

You may also need New Valve-Cover Gaskets (over time, they harden-up, shrink and crack.)

Finally, if it's a High-Milage Engine, you may have excessive Blow-By past the Piston-Rings which is Pressurizing your crankcase. In that case, it may be nearly time for a rebuild/overhaul.

If it rattles when you shake it it should be fine I usually check mine about every two oil changes. Also I know in the LT's (you didnt give you year) the valve cover gaskets are reusable, at least mine are....

If you are seeing seeping through the valve cover gaskets you could pop the tube of the "breather side with the engine running and see how much blow by you are getting... maybe also check for a collapsed or kinked PVC hose...

Just a few thoughts ...
