My daughter's 95 LT1 wouldn't start yesterday, so she put a new battery in it last night and it worked fine. This morning the new battery is dead. She has the car off at college, so I am trying to help her by phone. She can't find any lights left on. Any suggestions on what to have her check.
Check for the vanity mirror lights, parking lights, console door light, courtesy lights timing out. Does the car have an aftermarket alarm? , a radar detector, aftermarket radio or audio amplifier? If no, then put an ammeter in series with one of the battery cables (neg is safest) and pull one fuse at a time and see if the drain current suddenly drops. GM says leakage current should be less than 50 ma. My 87 measures 27 ma.
Re: Battery draining overnight on 95 (lou sylvestri)
Another thing is the power seats, I had one that was 'burrrrping' every few minutes as it was trying to move. Very hard to find, luckily I got in the car to get something late at night when it was quiet and heard the noise. Now I always move the seat, then come back a tad, to make sure it's off.

Always some good pointers from jfb, :yesnod: Anyway, I like add my own experience, where I finally found my drain after a week of recharge, drain, recharge, drain sessions. It was my antenna which just stopped working a couple of days before the drain. Turns out the antenna assembly had a short and besides rendering the antenna inoperable, it also continues to draw amps even though I've not used the radio. My temporary solution was to open up the plastic rear trim and unplug the relay from the gray, black, green connection. Another $ situation...sigh....
