Anyone have the Length, Width, and Height specs for the box. I like the design and idea behind the Vortex and similar products but I just can't understand the price tags. Thinking of fabbin up my own version.
Thank u much
Length about 8 1/2in at the base (tapers upward in front), Width 10in, height about 5in. These are from the box area only, the mounting flanges add another inch or two to the length and width. I'm planning a similar project but my reason is quality not cost. What are you planning to make this out of?
I plan to use aluminum or thin steel. Another thing I was thinking about doing was buying a camaro whisper lid like the one Lingenfelter sells and then just figuring out the piping.
Let me know, because the cheap plastic housing that surrounds the filter has cracked on mine, and I called them to get a price for just the plastic housing. Are you ready for this.................. $180!!!!!
They have to be f'ing kidding! This whole rig couldn't be made any cheaper. I have already had to replace the cheap bridge duct, and now my housing has cracked because the ring clamp was too tight. If the housing was any thinner it would disappear...
Just got the steel box done measuring the exact dimensions of the Vortex. Believe me this one isn't going to crack and its only cost $20 so far. All I need now is a K&N and some pipe and whoala.
I was reading a TPIS book I bought a long time ago and Mr. Cottrel was talking about the Airforce intake he made which is similar to the Vortex and said he had to bump fuel pressure either with a chip or regulator to accomodate the extra flow of his cold air kit at high speeds. Has anyone else experienced this. I can understand these cold air kits helping at high speeds but I never figured they would need a fuel bump.
thank u much
