hey guys, simple question: im just wondering how much backspacing i would need to have custom wheels built with to run a 17x9.5" wheel in front and a 17x11" wheel in back and not have any problems?
also, i know on my 89 iroc i needed 5.5" in front and 6.5" in the rear of backspacing to get those size wheels to tuck nicely under the fenderwells...so if i was to swap the wheels from the vette onto the fbody, how much backspace would i need to accomodate for (using a spacer, if thats even possible)? im asking b/c i heard somewhere that the C4 rearend is the same length as the 4th gen fbody rear...which would mean id need a 2" spacer to run these wheels on my iroc. is this true?
Re: buying custom wheels for a 96 vette... (IROC-U)
I run CCW's in that configuration on my 96, and use the Grand Sport offsets (17x9.5x56mm front and 17x11x50mm rear). The 315's on the rear stick out from under the wheel well a bit, but I've never had any rubbing problems on either end and have tortured the car through some pretty tight autox corners.
Re: buying custom wheels for a 96 vette... (rhneff)
hmm ic. but im more curious about how much backspacing ill need. the offset is just the distance from the rim's mounting surface to the centerline. im not sure what the offset would be on the wheels, but its the amount of backspacing that i need to know. how much will i need to tuck a 17x11" rear wheel under the fenderwell? and how much to tuck a 17x9.5" wheel under the front fenders?
