Default MAF screen

Is it ok and is it beneficial to remove the screen from you're MAF sensor and does it bother anything if you do? Thanks

I'm not sure if It really helps or not; I'm sure someone will jump in here, but I read about it first in TPIS catalog and they claim It does. Cut out my screens and vanes 2 yrs ago, with no problems.

The purpose of the screens is to straighten the turbulent airflow coming from the airfilter. It does reduce CFM, but if your engine needs the extra airflow, then it would be beneficial to remove the screens.

The vains are a heat sink for the electronics inside the MAF sensor. Again, if your engine needs the additional airlfow, your should cut them down.

:iagree:

If you remove the screens also cover the sensor tube ends and cut off the heat sink fins to get the max. air flow potential.

If you run a L98 MAF without screens:
-never run the engine (except for diagnostics) without an air filter
-do NOT over oil your K&N air filter

L98: remove it

LT1/LT4: Leave it in.

:lurk:

<edit> removing it on an LT1 or LT4 only serves to throw the MAF/ECM slightly out of calibration/sync... on a stock engine anyhow.

Since you have a 94, leave it in. It only helps L98s.

And dont buy any Granatelli MAF or anything like that either until you do some real mods.
